Moldavite is a rare kind of tektite, which is a natural glass made when a meteorite hits the ground. This high-energy explosion vaporizes rock and soil which are then propelled into the atmosphere and eventually return as tektites. Moldavite is named after the Moldau River in the Czech Republic and is found in the Bohemian plateau of the Czech Republic and Austria. Moldavite has a unique, pitted texture and is typically a bottle-green color, but it can also be yellow-green, olive-green, and brown-green. Moldavite is thought to be 15 million years old.
Due to the high value and rarity it is one of the more frequently attempted faked gemstones on the market.

This pendant is wrapped in solid Sterling Silver wire. As with all pendants, I strive to maintain a back view as elegant as the front view. This allows you to personally touch and connect with your gemstone.
